As we approach and commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Europe, internationally recognised as ‘VE Day’ for ‘Victory in Europe’ on Thursday 8th May – we are launching a commemorative campaign to recognise and honour the significant and versatile role played by the De Havilland Mosquito and all those men and women associated with this remarkable aircraft.
For a one-off £80 donation towards the first British build of a De Havilland Mosquito in over 74 years, we will send you our commemorative VE80 certificate, personalised in the name desired and remembering those who made such valuable contributions to the freedoms we value today.
You may also like to leave your name and message or dedication to a loved-one on our VE80 Wall of Honour
Known for its speed and agility, it was the first real Multi-role Combat Aircraft – a concept that carries through to today’s modern era. This twin-engine aircraft became one of the most effective and admired aircraft of the war. It was nicknamed the “Wooden Wonder” because of its construction from a unique wooden laminate.
The De Havilland Mosquito supported a wide range of operations: pathfinding, precision bombing, reconnaissance, night fighting, tactical support, and special missions – an invaluable tool for the Allied forces.
Your contribution will go directly to build the fuselage shells of the aircraft and you can keep up with progress by signing up for our weekly email updates here
Once built, the aircraft will fly across Britain and Europe to honour and promote the work of all those who made such valuable contributions to the war effort.
Please DONATE using the form below and thank you for your contribution and commemoration of VE80.
