In April of this year we launched our fundraising campaign to return Mosquito RL249 to the sky. We are always looking for ways to maximise your donations and to make it easier to donate and so we have recently signed up two third-party online donation facilities. The two services we have chosen to use, which are described in detail below, will cost us nothing, but will help generate a steady income for the fund, while offering a simpler, more direct way for people to support us and help return a British-based Mosquito to flight.
make-a-donation
How it works:
The make-a-donation website allows you to donate directly to The People’s Mosquito fund, and making a donation from the easy-to-use website ensures that the fund receives your whole donation. There are no fees or commissions charged to either you or The People’s Mosquito. We call that win-win!
How to donate via make-a-donation.org:
1. Go to the website Make-a-Donation.org.
2. Click the Donate button.
3. Fill in the amount and any message you wish to send to us.
4. If you are a UK tax payer please tick the Gift Aid check box to allow us to claim an extra 25p on every £1 you donate.
5. Click Make Your Payment. If you haven’t used the site before you will be prompted to create an account, otherwise just sign in.
6. Complete the payment and Gift Aid details.

easyfundraising
How it works:
With easyfundraising.org.uk it is not you who donates, but the retailer you are purchasing from. easyfundraising has agreements with hundreds of retailers, so that when you purchase from them, via their online store, they will donate a percentage of your total order value to The People’s Mosquito. With most retailers it is a small percentage, but with some larger items, such as car insurance for example, donations can be in the order of £30 to £40!
How to get donations for The People’s Mosquito:
1. Start at easyfundraising
Let’s say you want to buy a pair of headphones from Amazon. Instead of going to amazon.co.uk directly, you first go to easyfundraising.org.uk.
You will need to register with the site before you can get donations. Click on “Support us now” and then create your account by completing the form and clicking “Create my account”.
2. Make a purchase
From the easyfundraising website, click through to Amazon to make your purchase. This tells Amazon you came from easyfundraising. The price of the headphones is exactly the same.
3. Get a donation
After you make your purchase, Amazon will give you a cash reward that you can turn into a donation for your good cause. easyfundraising collect this and send it on to The People’s Mosquito at no extra cost.
5. Get the easyfundraising Donation Reminder
You can skip steps 1 and 2 with the easyfundraising Donation Reminder. Just click the reminder when you shop, to receive any eligible donations (the reminder appears in your browser the first time you visit an online retailer once you’ve signed up). You’ll never forget a free donation again!

The worthy project to fill the empty niche of no flying de Havilland Mosquito in a public trust. A shame that this aircraft, one of the few which fought above its weight so effectively as well and sensationally, has only private owners which fly them. This can be remedied with your support for The People’s Mosquito.
